An Implementation Team is a group of individuals who work collaboratively to facilitate organizational change. The very act of organizing an Implementation Team is a key implementation strategy, or “building block” for successful change (see Chapter 7).1; 2 A team can be organized around any number of change initiatives in a healthcare setting, such as implementing a new evidence-based intervention or clinical protocol. For this toolkit, such teams are charged with gathering management and staff support for organizational change, proactively communicating about the change, removing barriers to the change, implementing the change, and monitoring the change to ensure the desired results. The intended change is to support access to high-quality patient care and provide a welcoming environment for SGM patients.
